(Doctor of Sacred Theology, 60 post-graduate credits, available online only)
The Doctor of Theology program is designed to distinguish candidates for their enhanced intellectual understanding of theological truths and mastery of ministerial concepts and Christian leadership.
Candidates for Doctor of Sacred Theology degrees must maintain a 3.0 combined average of all Sheffey College graduate-level courses and complete the specified course of study laid out by the administration of Sheffey College. This course of study will follow the following format:
Introductory Stage
1. Candidates must complete “Foundations for the Doctor of Sacred Theology” seminar
2. Candidates must complete “Personal Spiritual Assessment Form” and have three other individuals fill out a "Spiritual Assessment Form" on their behalf
3. Candidate must submit a “Doctoral Thesis Statement” for the administration to review and approve. The administration will work with the student in developing their Doctoral Thesis Statement so that it is concise, specific, and unique.
Class & Study Stage
Upon completion of the Introductory Stage, candidates for the Doctor of Sacred Theology degree will then proceed to studying their assigned subjects:
Theology of the Gospel
History & Practice of Biblical Theology
Utilizing the Scriptures as a Pastor
Completion of Thesis Project
1. Research & Thesis Development
2. Complete Writing of Thesis
3. Thesis Defense*
* A thesis defense is an oral presentation and discussion of a thesis study with the doctoral committee. This undertaking is designed to showcase to the committee that the author presents a clear understanding of the subject and a mastery understanding of the Scriptures and the subject being presented.
